Your child, like all of us, must learn to write legibly----clearly enough for another person to read what has been written. Traditionally, we learn to write manuscript letters; then we learn to write cursive letters. Ordinarily we use manuscript for filling out forms and making lists. For the most part, we use cursive for more formal letters, invitations, and notes to friends.
Important Note to the Teacher!
Before you child begins this book of lowercase cursive letters, it is assumed that he or she has completed the first two books in the series----D'Nealian Handwriting from a to z: Lowercase Manuscript Practive and D'Nealian Handwriting from A to Z: Capital Manuscript Practice.
This sequence is important and will make the teaching of cursive handwriting much easier, and the results more successful. The D'Nealian lowercase manuscript alphabet was developed to convert into cursive with the addition of only three connecting strokes. The foundation for writing D'Nealian cursive is in the mastery of D'Nealian manuscript.
Here is the third book in this series of D'Nealian Handwriting instruction by Author: Donald N. Thurber. |
