This is the complete edition of World History and You, by Vivian Bernstein. Includes a 2-book softcover set for the student, plus a 48 page Teacher's Guide. These items may also be purchased separately. Recommended for 3rd and 4th grade students.

This text begins in ancient Egypt, the middle east, India, and China going back to the year 3750 BC with the earliest recorded history. It ends with a look at the global economy of the 1990's.

Chapter content is kept short, 2 to 4 pages, to help young learners stay involved. Each of the 47 chapters provides a highlight of several key things to think about, several new vocabulary words introduced in that chapter, and new people and places introduced. Each chapter includes a one page biography called "People in History."

Students are required to keep a journal notebook in which they will complete various writing assignments at the end of each chapter. The following exercises are provided at the end of each chapter:

  • Using Vocabulary - a fill in the blank exercise
  • Read and Remember - a finish the paragraph exercise
  • Journal Writing - Students write a few sentences in their journal.
  • Think and Apply - using critical thinking skills

Full color illustrations and photographs on almost every page help bring history to life. Unit titles are listed below.

  1. The Ancient World
  2. Two Thousand Years of Change
  3. The Growth of Nations and Ideas
  4. Revolutions
  5. A Changing World
  6. Nationalism, Imperialism, and War
  7. World War 2 and Its Effects
  8. The World Today
  9. Looking to the Future
