MANUAL |
 |
This
80 page Teachers' Manual contains complete, detailed instructions
and suggestions for teaching this curriculum and for using the CLIMBING
HIGHER reader and the student workbook that corresponds with the reader. The Teacher's Edition will motivate each teacher to use her own imagination and
adapt the ideas to fit her way of teaching and her students' individuality. |

their imagination and that of the children to lead them into deeper and more interesting
learning experiences.
In the Teachers Edition for CLIMBING HIGHER, you will find copies of the
childrens workbook pages along with teachers instructions and suggestions, and
the lesson answers . This should make teaching this curriculum convenient and easy for the
teacher.
Helping children understand what they read is a very important part of the teachers
role. These instructions should help you to do just that. |

| CLIMBING
HIGHER READER |

|
This
delightful 248 page hardback reader is full of easy-to-read stories and illustrations that
will capture your students attention. The 19 stories that fill this book relate
true-to-life incidents which could happen to any child. Most of the stories teach
lessons in virtues that are upheld by people with Christian values. You can also purchase
the 2nd grade reader textbooks without the workbooks or teacher's manuals. You can
purchase the readers as a set or individually. |
The teacher
should discuss each story with the children, thus helping the children understand the
lesson. It is only when the children thoroughly understand the moral of a story that it
leaves a lasting impression.
By working with stories they enjoy and
can relate to, your students focus on English grammar, reading, spelling, writing,
thinking skills, and penmanship. A child has the best advantage for learning
language arts skills in this effective and lasting manner. |

| CLIMBING
HIGHER STUDENT WORKBOOK |
 |
This 80 page
workbook has been prepared especially for second graders in a home school, parochial, or
other small classroom environment. Specifically designed to accompany the CLIMBING HIGHER
reader, this workbook was prepared not only with the children in mind, but their teacher
was also considered. This workbook has been designed to train the children to work
independently with a minimum of teacher assistance. |
| There are
always at least three workbook pages for each story in the textbook. The first page for
each story, "Working with Words, " should be assigned before the story is read.
On these pages the children work with the new words that appear in the story. The "Learning through Sounds" pages may be
assigned anytime the children need the work or have time to do them. There is no direct
connection between these pages and the story in the textbook, although many of the words
and all of the sounds that the children learn then also appear in the text. Special care
should be taken that the children keep up with the sounds that are introduced. The teacher
should give as much review work, oral work, and extra drill as the children need to
thoroughly learn each sound as it is Introduced.
The "Thinking about the Story" pages
should be done after the story has been read in class. In most cases the children should
be able to do the work on all the workbook pages by themselves, although there may be
Individuals that need help. The pupils should be encouraged to use their textbooks to find
the answers, rather than asking for the teachers assistance.
Since learning to read is laying the foundation of
a childs education, this subjects importance cannot be overemphasized. It must be taught with enthusiasm, and a teacher should not relax until every one of her second graders
likes reading.
No teacher should try to teach the lessons in this book without the help of the Teacher's
Edition containing the detailed instructions and suggestions, plus many supplementary
exercises that should help the teacher keep her second graders constructively
occupied. |
