| Introduction |
What Color Phonics
Is:
A comprehensive phonics program that combines fonts and colors to teach simplified phonics
rules.
The Color Phonics System associates sounds with specific colors rather than with confusing
diacritical marks, for example:
(red) bed - the short 'e' sound
(gray) pray - the long 'a' sound
(green) tree - the long 'e' sound
(brown) cow -
the 'ow' sound
Research shows that a big stumbling block in learning to read is the inability to
recognize sounds. Color Phonics helps solve this problem by carefully teaching
proper pronunciation.
The I-Read-You-Read system is patterned after the way you learned how to read. Just
like a parent reading with a child, the story teller reads the unfamiliar words aloud,
pausing to let the student read the word being taught. This allows the program to
use a more advanced vocabulary for more interesting stories. Anticipation builds as
story pictures become clearer with each correctly chosen word.
Blending is an important foundation for word formation and reading! Letter groups
are placed apart on the screen and, through animation, combine to form words. The
letter groups are sounded out separately, then pronounced as a complete word.
Fun learning activities, and friends like Revver the mouse and Franklin Bug make learning
fun. Students follow Revver and Franklin Bug as they race through castles and caves,
from the inner depths of the Ocean to the heights of Outer Space! Students will want
to answer correctly to help Revver race ahead. A great way to trigger long term
memory and have fun all at the same time!
This flexible program allows the teacher to take charge of the learning
process. Select the subject matter, pace and level of mastery. You can also
set the exclusive Focus Learning System to monitor the student's
progress and automatically reinforce weak areas. A complete education is ensured
because students will not be able to avoid lessons. For advanced students, you can
turn off the color text to increase the learning challenge.
"The Color Phonics program combines elements from current oral language and
reading research, a "back to basics" educational philosophy, and new strategies
for teaching reading. It's multi-modal, easy and just plain fun."
